Snoring/Sleep Apnea

At The Danna Smile we can help treat your sleep apnea or snoring problems with a simple dental device. Sleep apnea is a very serious condition that affects millions of people. Sufferers often feel constantly fatigued, and, unfortunately, too many people just “try to deal with it.” Sleep apnea can have some very serious repercussions, so it’s important to take care of it as soon as possible.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea refers to the constant cessation of breathing while you sleep. These pauses may last for a few seconds or up to a minute, and can happen anywhere from 5 to 100 times an hour.

Snoring is often associated with sleep apnea because your body is constantly struggling to get the air that it needs through closed-off airways. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common form of this, and it is treatable. It’s just that many people avoid the traditional treatment method.

How Do You Treat Sleep Apnea?

A CPAP machine is one of the most common ways to treat this condition. It involves using a mask that covers the nose (and sometimes the mouth) and pushing pressurized air though the airways to keep them open. While it is effective, it’s not always the most comfortable option. Some people will even choose to deal with the fatigue rather than wear the mask.

There is a different option, though.

At The Danna Smile we can fit you with a custom dental appliance that will help keep your airways unobstructed throughout the night. These are far more comfortable for most people than a CPAP machine, and they are small and portable so they can easily go on trips with you.
